Dakota Dozier re-signs with Vikings

Nearly all of 2020’s offensive linemen are back

After agreeing to bring back center/guard Brett Jones on Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms with another of their offensive linemen from last season.

Dakota Dozier, who started four games at guard for the Vikings in 2019, will be back with the team in 2020 on a one-year deal. The deal is worth $1 million.

Dozier signed a one-year deal with the Vikings last April, reuniting him with his former offensive line coach with the New York Jets, Rick Dennison. Overall, Dozier wound up playing about 35% of the snaps for the Vikings in 2019, and getting him back for a decent price is probably a good thing for the Vikings.

With Dozier’s re-signing, all of the offensive linemen on the Vikings’ roster from 2019 are back for 2020, with the exception of Josh Kline. . .a move that quite a few folks are still scratching their heads about, in all honesty. Maybe the continuity will be good for the Vikings, but we’ll have to see how it works out.

Dozier might get an opportunity to start in 2020 if the Vikings don’t feel that last year’s fourth-round pick, Dru Samia, is ready for the big time yet. More likely, however, he’ll continue to serve as the primary backup at both guard spots.
