Combine links comin’ in hot.
The first big offseason event, the NFL Combine, has been marked off of the calendar — so now we turn our focus to the start of free agency in a few weeks. Read on for some Combine-centric content in Monday’s edition of Falcoholinks.
Combine recap
The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine came to a close yesterday, and we spent the weekend tracking some prospects that may find themselves in Atlanta next season. Here’s a list of Combine participants by position, and some scouting notes on each:
Falcons plan to move on from Kemal Ishmael
Kemal Ishmael has been a key special teamer and valuable defensive reserve for the Falcons for 7 seasons, but 2019 appears to be his last. A report emerged on Friday that Atlanta will not be bringing Ishmael back for 2020.
We wish him the absolute best as he continues his NFL career.
The right round for a running back
With Devonta Freeman’s Atlanta future up in the air, it’s important that we consider running back options in the 2020 NFL Draft. If the Falcons were to select their future feature back, what round should they be eyeing?
Free agent pass rushers
The Falcons likely won’t have the available cap space to sign a marquee pass rusher like Jadeveon Clowney in free agency, but there are a couple of interesting options that could be within reach.
The team, to its credit, is doing its level best to be competitive in the free agent market. Over the weekend we received word that they had placed Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Airbnb to generate some funds.
