He spent three of his five NFL seasons in Minnesota

Former Minnesota Vikings’ offensive lineman Jeremiah Sirles spent five seasons in the National Football League, and on Monday he decided that was enough.

Sirles announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday afternoon, ending a career that saw him go to San Diego, Carolina, and Buffalo in addition to spending time in purple. He released a statement on Twitter earlier today.

Sirles’ career started with the San Diego Chargers in 2014, and despite appearing in just two games in that first season, he did enough to entice the Vikings to send a sixth-round pick to the Chargers in exchange for his services before the start of the 2015 season.

He wound up not appearing in any games for the Vikings in 2015, but saw significant action for the Vikings in 2016. He appeared in 14 games for the Vikings that season, including ten starts. Most of those starts came at right tackle after Andre Smith was lost for the year to an injury.

Sirles played in 14 games in 2017 as well, starting four times. After that, he moved on to the Carolina Panthers, but was placed on IR during Training Camp that year and was subsequently released. He then signed with the Buffalo Bills, where he appeared in 12 games with five starts. He signed a one-year contract extension with the Bills before the 2019 season, but was one again placed on IR and released.

Following the trend of players seemingly retiring after few years in the NFL, Sirles is just 28 years of age as he hangs up his cleats.

Here’s hoping for nothing but the best for Jeremiah Sirles as he moves on to the next phase of his life.
