Raiders mock draft: My current picks at No. 12 and 19

Offense and defense will be addressed

The NFL draft will be here before we know it. We’ve already ramped up our draft coverage and expect extensive coverage in the coming weeks.

I will do more mock drafts but, for now, on March 30, I want to present my choices for the Raiders’ two first-round picks.

Again, this is subject to change, these are simply my thoughts at the moment.

CeeDee Lamb

No. 12, CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma:
There is a strong chance the Raiders will have their choice of wide receivers, which is their biggest need. The top receivers – in an extremely strong receiver class – are widely considered to be Lamb, plus Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III of Alabama. It’s difficult to pinpoint which teams will prefer which players but I think Lamb checks all the boxes that Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock are looking for. He seems to fit this system perfectly, so, for now, that’s where I think the Raiders are leaning.

Grant Delpit

No. 19, Grant Delpit, S, LSU: I feel less sure of this pick, but that’s why it goes this deep in the draft. I just get a feeling Mayock may push for this player. Is cornerback a bigger need than safety? Maybe, but if Delpit is better than the available cornerbacks, he’d be a good fit and a nice pairing with 2019 first-round pick Johnathan Abram. Abram and Delpit could play essentially their entire careers together as the patrolling of the back of the Las Vegas secondary. Plus, Delpit seems like a typical Mayock pick. He’s a good producer from a big-time program. If Florida cornerback C.J. Henderson is available, he’d be the pick, I think he may be gone.
