Report: Seahawks agree to deal with Cedric Ogbuehi

More offensive linemen signings, you say? But of course!

The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly locked in a one-year contract with former Cincinnati Bengals tackle Cedric Ogbuehi.

This news comes after Seattle agreed to a two-year contract with former Pittsburgh Steelers guard/center B.J. Finney, as well as a two-year deal with ex-New York Jets tackle Brandon Shell.

Ogbuehi was part of the same Texas A&M offensive line as Germain Ifedi, whose future in Seattle looks very much in doubt based on the Shell signing alone. Chosen 21st overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, Ogbuehi earned the starting spot at right tackle in 2016 and then replaced Andrew Whitworth at left tackle in 2017. I hate to break the bad news to you, but he was terrible at both spots and was a healthy scratch for much of 2018.

After the Bengals declined to pick up his fifth-year option, Ogbuehi spent his 2019 with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a reserve tackle, appearing in 14 games total on both offense and special teams.

At best, Ogbuehi is going to be depth/swing tackle option and ideally he isn’t starting whatsoever. Otherwise, he’s going to be competing for a roster spot.
