Predicting quarterback landing spots in free agency and the 2020 NFL Draft - PFF
Marcus Mariota – Philadelphia Eagles. The only opportunity for Marcus Mariota to reclaim a starting spot is with the Chicago Bears, but with them rolling with a duel between Trubisky and Andy Dalton, he’ll be searching for a backup role somewhere. The Philadelphia Eagles need one pretty badly given Carson Wentz‘sinjury history. Mariota has been consistently average to below average as a passer throughout his career, ranking as high as 16th in passing grade and as low as 28th. His lack of production from a clean pocket is perhaps the biggest red flag for his NFL future. The only other quarterback to record a lower passing grade from a clean pocket since 2015 is Trubisky. He’s not going to make plays outside the pocket with his arm, but he can with his scrambling. Mariota’s two most successful years in the NFL came in 2017 and in 2018 when his rushing grade ranked in the top five in each season.
NFL Mock Draft Roundup: Eagles’ most popular pick is split between two wide receivers - BGN
Justin Jefferson to the Eagles at No. 21 is really gaining steam. He was only projected to Philly once in our last roundup. Jefferson is a pick I can realistically envision happening. The Eagles have clearly struggled to draft and develop receivers during the Howie Roseman era. With that in mind, they might want to bet on the receiver profile that seems unlikely to bust. Jefferson checks a number of boxes; he tested well at the NFL Combine, he was very productive for a national champion, he only turned 21 earlier this year, he has the versatility to play inside and outside ... need I say more? Jefferson isn’t the pure burner the Eagles must acquire this offseason but they can sign a free agent (Breshad Perriman?) to help in that regard. In addition to speed, the Eagles need to add some receivers who are actually good. Jefferson seems like a safe bet in that regard. He’ll be able to regularly get open and be a security blanket for Carson Wentz, not unlike Zach Ertz.

The Veterans - Iggles Blitz
Breshad Perriman – Michael Kist wrote an excellent piece on Perriman for BGN. Perriman is an underachiever since being a first round pick in 2015, but he has an excellent combination of size and speed. He will turn 27 in the fall and is coming off the best season of his career (still nothing to write home about). Perriman will not command a high price. There is risk involved with signing him, but he could be a good gamble. He can be part of a good WR corps. If he can build on last year, Perriman could be a solid addition for several years.
Should Eagles be worried about Andre Dillard? - NBCSP
When it’s accurate or not, Dillard came across as entitled. Like right tackle was below him. And then he played like it. Dillard was defeated before kickoff. Not surprisingly, he was benched at halftime. Think about the guys we’re talking about. Peters was undrafted. Big V was a 5th-round pick. Herremans was a 4th-round pick. Dunlap was a 7th-round pick. Pryor was a 6th-round pick. Look at Dunlap. Guy was the 230rd pick in the 2008 draft but lasted nine years in the NFL because of his ability to adapt and get the most out of his ability. The fact that Dillard, the 22nd pick in last year’s draft, couldn’t make that adjustment is disturbing. And really, it almost seemed like he didn’t want to make that adjustment. And that’s way worse.
Agent’s Take: Can Dak Prescott get the short-term contract he seeks from the Cowboys? - CBS Sports
If representing Prescott, I would insist on a three-year deal for as long as reasonably practicable. At that point, I would attempt to characterize a willingness to consider “the right” four-year deal as a monumental concession where becoming the league’s highest player (Wilson: $35 million per year) with records for overall guarantees (Goff: $110,042,682) and the amount fully guaranteed at signing (Ryan: $94.5 million) would be requirements. Without Dallas willing to do these things, I would advise Prescott to wait for Mahomes to dramatically change the quarterback market and start playing the franchise tag game if necessary.
Frank Reich beefs up Colts’ staff in response to passing struggles - ESPN
Reich swiftly hired Mike Groh to be the team’s receivers coach after he was fired as offensive coordinator/receivers coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. Reich and Groh were together when the Eagles won the Super Bowl in 2017. Reich was the offensive coordinator and Groh was the receivers coach. “Mike is really special,” Colts general manager Chris Ballard said. “I was with him for three months in Chicago, but I saw the work he did with both Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall. So I saw that from afar. Then Frank worked with him in Philly and they had a lot of success. They went and won a Super Bowl. So when he became available, it just was a chance to add what we think is a pretty special coach.”
Why are current and former NFL players forming a handball team? - SB Nation
In one of the weirdest stories of the NFL offseason, former players are now considering forming an Olympic handball team. In Feburary, Jay Cutler said he could assemble a handball team that could win a gold medal — a bold claim that implied anyone could play the sport and annoyed many in the handball community as a result. Former NFL defensive back Domonique Foxworth joined in, saying handball “isn’t that hard,” which prompted USA head coach Robert Hedin to respond with a challenge for ex-NFL players.
