The Panthers have signed G John Miller to a 1-year, $4 million deal

The Panthers are adding a stopgap guard to help their offensive line in 2020.

The Carolina Panthers have signed guard John Miller to a one-year, $4 million contract, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter.

After being released today by the Bengals, guard John Miller is signing a one-year, $4 million deal with the Panthers, per @RosenhausSports.

Miller was released by the Cincinnati Bengals earlier today. He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the third round (No. 81 overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft and signed a three-year contract with the Bengals in 2019. He played college football at Louisville and was teammates with new Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

John Miller is a former third-round RG who blocked for Teddy Bridgewater at Louisville. Placeholder deal as Daley, plus likely a young drafted iOL, develop. @AdamSchefter reporting a one-year deal.

This is a solid move by the Panthers who are just trying to keep the offensive line functional for the 2020 season while their younger guys develop. Miller gives the Panthers some veteran leadership in the locker room, has familiarity with Bridgewater and is only going to cost the Panthers $4 million for one year, so there’s really no risk at all in this deal.
