Including when the Vikings might be on the clock

We are now, officially, finally less than 24 hours away from the start of the 2020 NFL Draft. Very soon, we will be learning who the newest members of the Minnesota Vikings will be, as well as the newest members of the 31 other, less important NFL franchises.

So, how can you follow along with all the action? Well, we can fill you in on that!

When Does Day 1 of the 2020 NFL Draft get underway?

Things will be starting at approximately 7:00 PM Central time. This year we don’t have to account for the ceremonial booing of Roger Goodell, as you’ll have to do that on your own.

What channel or channels will the draft be shown on?

This year’s draft will feature a simulcast between ESPN and the NFL Network, so whichever channel you log into will give you the same coverage. There will also be coverage on ABC, and they will be doing more of a “story-focused” broadcast featuring the paths some of the newest additions to the NFL took to get to where they are.

What if I would rather listen to the radio?

KFAN-FM out of the Twin Cities will be carrying the draft, and I assume that many Vikings Radio Network affiliates will be as well. If you will be traveling or just prefer to use the satellite radio service, you can check out SiriusXM NFL Radio, Channel 88.

I don’t have TV or radio, just this sweet, sweet internet.

You can also stream the draft through either Fubo (which has the NFL Network) or ESPN+. I’m not sure of the NFL Network will have the stream on their website or not. Feel free to check.

What picks do the Vikings currently have in Round 1?

After the Stefon Diggs trade, the Vikings currently have two selections in Thursday night’s opening round. They have #22 overall, which is the pick they acquired from the Buffalo Bills, and their own pick at #25 overall.

So, when do you reckon the Vikings will be “on the clock?”

Well, for the first round, each team has ten minutes to make their selections. If we go based on that, it would take approximately 3 12 hours for the Vikings to get to their first selection, which would put things at about 10:30 PM Central time. I don’t anticipate every team using all that time, so you’d probably be safe if you wanted to start watching at about 9:30 Central, maybe even 9:45-ish.

What will The Daily Norseman be doing this draft weekend?

Well, as we do every year, we will make every effort to get snapshots of every Vikings’ draft pick up here as quickly as possible, as well as the opportunity for you to react and discuss those selections.

There will also be a discussion thread for each round of the Draft, so you can discuss everything that’s happening in. . .uhhh, the living rooms of General Managers around the league.

The big one, though, will be the second annual Good Morning, Gjallarhorn LIVE stream for the entire first round! We will have a link to that available via the Twitters as well as embedded at the top of our first round discussion thread. I will be joining Ted Glover, Dave Stefano, and Drew Bunting for a night of football, stories, and drinking.

Hoo, boy, will there be drinking.

As always, we hope that you will join us for all the excitement of what’s going to be a truly unconventional 2020 NFL Draft, whether it’s here or on YouTube or wherever it may be. This is one of the biggest events that we do every year, and we’re happy to have all of you along for the ride.
