Some bookkeeping: WR Cody Latimer's salary cap hit this year is $887,500... he received a bonus of $137,500; that's the only guaranteed money in his 1 year deal.

Ol’ Ricky remembers coach Marty Schottenheimer, who was a one-season wonder at 8-8 before fired because he wouldn’t communicate with owner Dan Snyder very often. 1/
— Rick Snider (@Snide_Remarks) April 11, 2020
Marty swore on ESPN he’d never coach the Redskins. Two weeks later, he was in Ashburn. Said after meeting Snyder he changed his mind. OK, it’s a free country. But Marty gained total control over the team so Snyder could not interfere like he did with predecessor Norv Turner. 3/
— Rick Snider (@Snide_Remarks) April 11, 2020
Marty even pulled the crowd onto the field so they could see the bull-in-the-ring drill up close. It’s where a defensive player takes on an offensive player inside a ring of teammates. It’s 1 on 1 ball and manhoods are challenged. Only time in NFL I’ve ever seen it. 5/

2 days later, rookie speared Bruce accidently. Bruce walked off in pain. I joked that was it for Bruce for TC and sure enough he didn’t return until the regular season. Bruce was going to retire after the season, but jumped onto stage at Spurrier presser to say he was staying. 7/
— Rick Snider (@Snide_Remarks) April 11, 2020
Like Bruce, Darrell jumped on stage at Spurrier presser to say he was returning one more year. Both players otherwise wouldn’t have played in 2002. 9/

Nobody missed George. Nicknamed “coach killer” for a 46-78 record, 1-6 with Redskins. Threw a beautiful ball in practice. Just not a nice person, at least to reporters and coaches. Once screamed in hallway at interim coach Terry Robiskie he’d get latter fired. 11/
— Rick Snider (@Snide_Remarks) April 11, 2020
At 0-3, I heard rumblings that Snyder wanted to fire Marty and told the coach privately. He laughed at me, then told Snyder so they both had a good laugh. And when Marty left for last time, he told me he wished he had listened to me. 13/
— Rick Snider (@Snide_Remarks) April 11, 2020
Nowadays, Marty is battling health issues at 76. I wish him well. 15/

NFL owners are not expected to even take a vote on renewal of the rule making pass interference reviewable by instant replay, source says. The rule is expected to simply expire after one season.

Most teams agree on top 4 WR’s and top 2 CB’s (the names, not the order) but then it gets wild. One team’s 5th WR might be another team’s 12th WR. One teams 3rd CB is another teams 8th CB. Can’t remember a year like this one. Impossible to predict anything after top 15-20 picks.

I know people think it’s immature of Dwayne Haskins to block @1067theFan but seriously fuck them they deserve it
— Seph Porter (@Breakemdownseph) April 10, 2020
Why not just block that and not see it. Mature response. The dude from the station made it a thing by posting he got blocked. Not like Haskins said anything to the dude.

When the smartest people on the face of this planet tell us that, if we want this pandemic to subside, we ALL MUST adhere to social distancing right now, but then others ignore it & do what they want anyway, it should b impossible 2 just look the other way or make jokes about it.

We joke about what the "profile" of a Patriots slot receiver is, but I think Florida's Van Jefferson is a great fit. He's a coach's son, an elite route-runner and hyper-competitive. I could see him in the 3rd as the eventual replacement for Julian Edelmanhttps://t.co/6tge1NjhBP

Former RT-D sports editor, managing editor, executive editor Bill Millsaps died last night, per his wife Nancy. I'll have more to say about Saps later - having a hard time processing this. If I had a Mount Rushmore of career influences, he'd be on it. RIP and a million thank yous
