The Bengals weren’t done adding linebackers with the draft.
The Bengals added four defensive players in the draft, and kept adding after it concluded.
Per Tom Pelissero, the Bengals reached out to undrafted free agent Kendall Futrell.

Washington CB Myles Bryant to the #Patriots
ECU LB Kendall Futrell to the #Bengals
Futrell is listed as both a linebacker or defensive end, depending on the platform. He’s 6-2, 226 pounds, so he is built more like an outside linebacker. Either way, he’s probably insurance in case Akeem Davis-Gaither or Markus Bailey aren’t completely healthy, since the Bengals were unable to get physicals from them this year.
Futrell played for Eastern Carolina for four years, but only showed production in his senior year. In 2019, he had 63 total tackles, 37 solo, 16 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, and one pass defense.
There is very little out there on Futrell, so it’s likely that he is just a training camp or preseason body. The Bengals have 17 openings for free agents, so this could be the first signing of a massive spree.
Whether he gets a chance to compete or not, the linebacker spots will all be heavily contested come training camp. Futrell marks the fifth addition to that group this offseason.
