Eli Apple is back on the free-agent market after his deal with the Las Vegas Raiders fell through. The Raiders and Apple agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal in free agency on March 18. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that the two sides were unable to finalize things. Contracts that were agreed to in free agency this year presented an unusual case because of the inability of teams to bring in players for physicals. It’s unclear whether there was a medical issue with Apple that was later discovered, or if the two sides had a disagreement about finances, but Apple is back on the market. The 24-year-old cornerback played in 15 games each of the last two seasons and had 58 tackles last year for New Orleans. Many teams have already agreed to deals with cornerbacks and spent the money they had allotted for free agency, so it might be tougher for Apple to find a new deal.
