Your San Francisco 49ers news for April 28, 2020
On Saturday, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne tweeted the question asking if he should wear No. 11 or not. That led to tight end, George Kittle responding, “dibs.” According to Brandon Aiyuk’s Instagram, he’ll be wearing 11 next year for the Niners:
So much for that, Bourne. I’m not sure how the rest of you feel about this, but 11 is aesthetically so much better than a number in the 80s to me. The 49ers receivers don’t have as many options as other teams with the number of jerseys that are retired. The Niners retired 12, 16, 80, and 87. Marquise Goodwin recently wore No. 11
Javon Kinlaw will wear DeForest Buckner’s old number.
Kinlaw will have big shoes to fill wearing No. 99, but he’ll be up to the task. Not a bad caption, either, Javon.
The team has yet to make an announcement on the rookies’ official jersey numbers, So we’ll need to wait on offensive lineman Colin McKivitz, who wore No. 53 in college. Mark Nzeocha currently wears 53. Tight end Charlie Woerner wore No. 89 in college, which technically belongs to wide receiver Chris Thompson. Jauan Jennings wore No. 15 at Tennessee. That’s Trent Taylor’s number, so Jennings will have to select another number. As for Trent Williams, No. 71 is currently worn by Jaryd Jones-Smith. Something tells me Jones-Smith is going to be coughing up No 71.
