Golden Nuggets: Could we be seeing OTAs in July

There is a lot of talk about the season being delayed until after Thanksgiving. Would it even make sense to start the season that late? It would not give teams much recovery time before the 2021 season.

I can see the country not wanting to take a chance with large volumes of people getting together to watch sports but does that mean teams would not get together and have workouts so they don’t get rusty from taking a year off? While it may not be a good idea to have NFL teams working out together at the moment, what about after the country lightens up on social distancing and testing becomes more widely available?

Could they start with conditioning? Perhaps bring in smaller position groups to work out at different assigned times and disinfect the equipment between groups? Perhaps they could eventually move onto regular practices with the players staying in lock down somewhere so there is no possibility of bringing in the coronavirus from the outside? At some time they are going to need to go over the playbook. Perhaps they can have the OTAs in July and another training camp in October and then shut it down until next spring?

This brings up the problem that players are under contract. Would the players be willing to work this out with the owners so the players and the league don’t go broke? I am just throwing this stuff out there because I really don’t know any more than anyone else.

On another strange note, did anyone know we have a safety named Jack Thieneman on our team. I have never heard of the man but he is supposedly on our team and he is teaming up with a non-profit to make ventilators. This world never ceases to amaze me. Reading that right after reading how someone figured out how to convert breast pumps into ventilators kind of made my day. I love the way this country is rising to the challenge.

Don’t forget to read the article on Al Guido because it talks about how they hooked up both Shanahan and Lynch’s homes to make sure their internet does not fail during the draft.
