Kendrick Bourne officially signed his one year deal on Tuesday. Kendrick was an integral part of the Niners offense last season. He caught 30 passes and 5 went for touchdowns. Out of the 30 catches, 23 went for first downs. His one year deal is worth over $3 million. With Kendrick back, the Niners were able to keep 2 of their top wide receivers from last season.

Replacing the 3rd member of that receiving trio will be very difficult. Emmanuel Sanders was the reliable veteran of the group and now the team will look to replace him with youth. Trent Taylor and Jalen Hurd, who are both coming back from injuries, figure to play a part in the offense. Trent had good rapport with Jimmy Garoppolo in limited game time when Jimmy first joined the team. Jalen impressed in the one preseason game he was able to play last season. He scored 2 touchdowns on the 3 receptions he had. Unfortunately, that would be the only game he would play in his rookie season.

The 13th pick could also be used to address the need. The top 3 receivers in the draft seem to be Jerry Jeudy, CeeDee Lamb, and Henry Ruggs. Any of the 3 would help provide an upgrade to the receiving group. If the team does not trade out of 13th pick and have one of the three receivers available, that player is expected to be the pick. They would have a leg up on the rest of the receivers in the battle for a starting spot next season. The Niners haven’t had great success in drafting receivers recently, but they need to hit on this one to help keep their team in the upper tier of the NFL.
