New York Jets Flight Connections 4/8/20

Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets

Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. Though the Jets haven’t necessarily made a ‘splash’ in FA this year, the team is already tight on CAP space. Joe Douglas has done a decent job at retaining good backup depth and plausible starters, but the chances of the Jets taking on a star player seem slim to none. This may be bad news to some Jets’ fans, but it isn’t the worst case scenario. With players like Jamal Adams, Sam Darnold, and Marcus Maye nearing their timeline for a possible extension, it’s smart for Joe Douglas to allocate the teams’ CAP space accordingly. The plethora of 1-year contracts allows the Jets to keep their options open going forward, and doesn’t necessarily hinder them either. If a player on said 1-year contract does well, the team could hypothetically still be in play for an extension after the next season. It’s a game of chess, and we’ll find out if Joe Douglas is a master at it. With that, here are your links to the team to start your day.
