Watch the draft and donate to a great cause during three-day “draft-a-thon”
On Wednesday, the NFL announced a philanthropic program that will run during the NFL Draft, which will be held April 23-25, to help the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
The league said the draft will act as a three-day virtual fundraiser to benefit six charities that are in the effort to fight the coronavirus pandemic. You can learn more about the charities here.
The “draft-a-thon” will be on all broadcast of the draft. The draft will be different this year as all team personnel will also work individually from their homes instead of the team facility.
The Raiders have two picks in the first round on Thursday, April 23 (picks No. 12 and No. 19) and seven picks in total. As you watch the three-day event — on ABC, ESPN, ESPN Deportes and NFL Network — you will have a chance to help a great cause that will benefit us all.
“As we face this global health crisis together, we are filled with gratitude for the extraordinary work of first responders, healthcare workers and many others who are helping those in need,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodel said in a statement Tuesday. “The Draft-a-Thon will deliver much-needed funding to many who are suffering as well as those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Conducting this event virtually, and taking all necessary precautions while doing so, underscores the importance of staying home and staying strong during this unprecedented moment in our history.”
Fans can donate through one central fund throughout the three days, which will add to the more than $43 million already donated by the collective NFL family.
