It seems as though the Rams wanted players who’d need less guidance to become quality pros. And soon.
The conclusion of the 2020 NFL Draft has happened. That includes the Los Angeles Rams selecting nine players who will now and forever (for awhile) be members of the franchise. It would seem that general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay focused on prospects who fit the category of “best player available” as well as “can contribute immediately.”
First round pick Cam Akers plays a position that may need less guidance from now until the beginning of next season. Second round pick Van Jefferson has an NFL receiver as a dad and is going to a talented veteran unit with coaches who’ve developed some of the game’s best. Third rounders Terrell Lewis and Terrell Burgess could have significant roles on the defense as soon as their rookie campaigns.
There was also kicker Sam Sloman in round seven, an obvious candidate to become a starter in 2020, so long as he wins the job.
To discuss that and the “grade” of the LA Rams for this draft class, I recorded a podcast. You can listen to it below. I also have an NFL-comedy podcast called “Goofballs: A Football Podcast” which you can listen to on Wednesdays.
