The reshuffling of the salary cap and indeed the Seattle Seahawks offensive line continues.

Not too long after right guard D.J. Fluker announced that he had been released, it’s been reported by The Athletic’s Aaron J. Fentress that the team is also ready to part ways with veteran starting center Justin Britt.

As noted by Fentress, the Seahawks would save north of $8 million on cap space, to go along with the $3.6 million saved by cutting Fluker.

Britt was drafted by the Seahawks in 2014, first starting at right tackle before being moved to guard the following season. Seattle moved him to center in 2016, where the 28-year-old provided stability at the position that was lacking in the immediate aftermath of the Max Unger/Jimmy Graham trade.

An ACL tear against the Atlanta Falcons this past October ended his season early, and also led to the increased speculation that he would be a salary cap casualty in this offseason. With the team re-signing Hunt and adding center/guard B.J. Finney, Britt looks to be on his way out.

If Britt is released, the only Seahawks players drafted from 2013-2016 who would still be on the team are Luke Willson (2013), Tyler Lockett (2015), Jarran Reed (2016), and Joey Hunt (2016), who started in Britt’s absence last year.
