The initial thoughts of Bears fans as the Bears selected a
After much waiting the Chicago Bears finally made their selection in the NFL Draft. They took TE Cole Kmet, from Notre Dame with the 43rd pick.
Kmet is a local kid, from Lake Barrington, Ill.
Here’s the initial reaction from Bears fans on Twitter, beat reporters and others.
Make sure you chime in with your reaction in the comments. What do you think of the selection?
#Bears are selecting Notre Dame TE Cole Kmet with the 43rd overall pick

I'm skeptical of drafting tight ends so high as a general rule. Cole Kmet, though, is the best TE in this class. Fits a need at the "Y."

Aaaaaaaaaaaand it's bad. Board fell perfectly and it just didn't matter https://t.co/zzfXK3UcdC

Not going to apologize for loving this pick. Need area, NFL ready, high character. Nice job, Bears. https://t.co/Ht97BKqXq0

Listen, I like Cole Kmet. He was my TE1. I thought he would have been an ok pick at 50. Taking him now with the talent that was on the board is inexcusable
— Stephen Letizia (@StephenLetizia) April 24, 2020
I think Ryan Pace just botched this and with the amount of talent on the board, I really don't know how that's possible.
— Bill Zimmerman (@ZimmermanSXM) April 24, 2020
The #Bears used 12 personnel on only 13% of their plays in 2019. The Chiefs and Eagles were top 5 in the league in using 12 personnel. Kmet + Jimmy Graham could mean an offense that looks more like KC and Philly.
— JJ Stankevitz (@JJStankevitz) April 24, 2020
That's the best-case here with Kmet.
Bears reach on a TE - a good blocking TE but he's not going to help this passing game much
— Blake Van Poucke (@SoldierFieldBlg) April 24, 2020
Left A LOT of talent on the board
Horrendous.

I'm sure Cole Kmet is a fine player and person. I hope he succeeds.
As a draft value this is not. the. best.
I've made the point many times how important TE is to this #Bears offense on Bears Over Beers. I simply hate this move with more talented players at open competition positions. Pace is chasing ghosts this off season.

You needed a starter with your first pick, and you picked a redshirt TE
— Kyle Thorsen (@ThorCo34) April 24, 2020
Cole Kmet.. how.......
— Max Markham (@MaxMarkhamNFL) April 25, 2020
I like TE Cole Kmet. But I’m not sure I like him at No. 43
— David Prince (@bydavidprince) April 24, 2020
Dude is a beast though.
I just
— Armchair Deion (@PayDaMann) April 25, 2020
I like Cole Kmet as a prospect, but I think the #Bears could have received better value had they went in an other direction or traded back.
— Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. (@wiltfongjr) April 25, 2020
This just shows the importance of the position in Matt Nagy's offense that they had him valued at that spot.
Why is Ryan Pace the way that he is.
— Brett Kollmann (@BrettKollmann) April 24, 2020
Best tight end in the draft. One of the two players I wanted. https://t.co/QAJHnKVZlJ
— Erik Duerrwaechter (@EDuerrwaechter) April 25, 2020
There were about 10 players I was dying for the Bears to draft. None had the first namd Cole or the last name Kmet.
— Opinion Bear (@OpinionBear) April 25, 2020
Hope he proves me wrong.
#Bears have 57 TEs on the roster, they best one is already Kmet.
— Carmen DeFalco (@CarmenDeFalco) April 25, 2020
Like someone sh!t on a pew in church? Kid might be fine, but no one was taking a TE before 50.....
— Joseph M Felicelli (@FelicelliJoe) April 24, 2020
10 Tigh Ends is so damn funny. If the Bears are going to be bad at least be funny and 10 tight ends is hilarious (also I love the pick)
— Big Cat (@BarstoolBigCat) April 25, 2020
nobody leaves value on the board like Ryan Pace
— Chris Bleck (@chrisbleck) April 25, 2020
And of course others have jokes:
I’m sure this Notre Dame tight end the Bears just drafted is good buuuuut can he catch balls that are thrown 10 feet above or behind him from Trubisky?
— Nick Yeoman (@NYeoman) April 25, 2020
Now all Chicago needs for Kmet is a QB who can get the ball to him
— Charlotte Wilder (@TheWilderThings) April 25, 2020
The Bears still have another selection tonight, just seven spots from their first one, unless they make a trade, so stick around and share your thoughts on that.
