Baker has yet to turn himself in to police
DeAndre Baker, wanted in Miramar, FL. on four counts of armed robbery and four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, remains at large and a lawyer representing Baker claims the New York Giants cornerback is “innocent of any charges.”
Bradford Cohen, lawyer for Baker, issued the following statement via Instagram:
“I want to thank @miramarpd for being professional in regards to surrendering and issues with the case. We understand that the officers can only base warrants on what was told to them at the time. We have had affidavits from several witnesses that also dispute the allegations and exculpate our client. Our investigator has had them for some time. We would have rather presented them to the court at the proper time, rather than in the media, but in this day and age, people rush to judgement. Where some seek publicity, we seek justice. I look forward to moving this case forward to proper conclusion, as we believe our client is innocent of any charges.”
Cohen added this comment early Saturday morning:
We will be presenting the trove of evidence we have obtained over the past 3 days to the judge at the right time 7 affidav(i)ts exonerating my client and video evidence.”
Seattle Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar, who faces four counts of armed robbery in relation to this incident, also remains at large. A lawyer for Dunbar has also proclaimed his innocence and said he has affidavits from witnesses stating that he was not involved.
The warrants for Baker and Dunbar were issues Thursday after an incident that allegedly took place at a Wednesday night party.
Baker, 22, is alleged to have been the ringleader in the theft, at gunpoint, of more than $70,000 in money and watches. According to the affidavit, Baker and Dunbar had lost $70,000 at a party a few nights prior Wednesday’s alleged robbery.
The affidavit states that Baker “took money and watches belonging to the victim(s) with force” and that he was “armed with a semi-automatic firearm.” A witness also claimed that Baker directed an accomplice to shoot him.
Dunbar’s lawyer, Michael Grieco, claimed that Baker and Dunbar “aren’t tight.”
Of Dunbar’s involvement in the alleged incident, Grieco said:
“I’m confident that he was there but confident he didn’t commit a crime,” Grieco said about Dunbar. “He got targeted because of who he was.”
Baker, selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Giants, could face a lengthy prison term that would end his football career if convicted.

Cohen is a high-powered attorney with a list of well-known clients that includes rapper Vanilla Ice, ex-Giant Plaxico Burress, Dennis Rodman, record producer Scott Storch and former Donal Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.
