How are you feeling about the Lions’ chances against their first four opponents?
For the second year in a row, the Detroit Lions were given a Week 5 bye. Many were disappointed to see such an early bye week again for the Lions and it seems to have become a theme for them over the past couple of decades.

Prior to the bye week, the Lions will face a pretty tough schedule. They will invite the Chicago Bears to play in Detroit for their home opener, followed by back-to-back road games against the Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals, and finally a home showdown against the New Orleans Saints.
Last year, the Lions went into their bye week with a 2-1-1 record against some tough opponents in a year where many fans said they would have been happy to go 2-2. Obviously, things didn’t go well for them after that, but it shows that no one really knows what to expect.
Today’s Question of the Day is:
What will the Lions’ record be heading into their bye week?
My answer: I’ve got them at 2-2 after four games.
It’s tough to imagine games that might not even end up happening, but in a perfect world, I think the Lions would enter into a rowdy environment against the Bears and perform well in front of the home crowd. Without a crowd, I still think the Lions stack up well against the Bears on paper and are the better team overall. This is a game they should win.
The Lions had the win in their grasp against the Packers in Lambeau last year and I think they get their revenge in 2020. The Packers are a team that I don’t believe got any better this offseason, while the Lions improved in most areas and will hopefully have a healthy Matthew Stafford to keep them in the game. Detroit starts off the season at 2-0, with two huge wins against division rivals.
That’s where things start to fall apart, sort of. The Cardinals, to me, are on the up and up and have a very good head coach/quarterback combo with a lot of impressive young talent. The Lions haven’t had much success in Arizona and I don’t see this year being much different.
Against the Saints at home, the Lions won’t go down without a fight. I’d expect them to hang with the Saints for most of the game, putting up plenty of points, but I don’t think that the defense will be quite ready yet. It’ll take a bit of time to hit their stride with a lot of new faces and a new defensive coordinator, so I could see this being a game where they struggle against a very good offensive.
