The Indianapolis Colts announced on Monday that the team has officially signed second round wideout Michael Pittman Jr. to a rookie contract:

The 6’4”, 223 pound senior wideout was selected by the Colts with their first selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, the 34th overall pick (having happily traded away the 13th overall pick for All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner).
Pittman caught 101 receptions for 1,275 receiving yards (12.6 ypr. avg.) and 11 touchdown receptions during 13 starts in his senior season at USC—earning First-Team All-Pac 12 honors and was also named a Second-Team All-American.
The big bodied wideout possesses smooth route running, excellent hands, and is a deep threat with his ability to win 50-50 jumpballs downfield—having the special prowess to ‘play above the rim’ with excellent body control.
While not the most explosive athlete, Pittman runs pretty well for his immense size (4.52 forty time at the NFL Combine) and should be a formidable downfield target for new Colts veteran quarterback Philip Rivers—who historically has loved throwing to taller targets downfield such as Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd.
Pittman should be prove to be an all-around reliable possession target at all levels of the field—and also showcases physical perimeter blocking and run after the catch ability.
The former Trojans’ star is a natural ‘X’ in the Colts offense with his sheer size and ability to work the sideline. Given his polish, he’s projected to contribute immediately next season as a rookie for the Colts. He should be an ideal complement to the diminutive, yet always incredibly dangerous T.Y. Hilton on the other side of the Indy offense—along the outside.
Eight of the Colts’ nine draft picks have now been officially signed, as the only remaining unsigned rookie draft pick is 3rd round safety Julian Blackmon (who’s recovering from a torn ACL he suffered late last season).
Here’s Pittman Jr. smiling right as the fresh ink signed on his rookie contract dries:
