Open thread: Who will be the best team in the NFL?

NFL: AFC Divisional Round-Tennessee Titans at Baltimore Ravens Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

Who’s bringing home the Lombardi next year?

Yesterday, we tackled who we thought might be the worst team in the NFL, so, of course, we have to do the inverse and discuss who will be the best. In a year with a pandemic and not a whole lot of time to get in some real practice, we could see anyone step up to the plate and become the best.

Last year, it was the Kansas City Chiefs, to no one’s surprise, but we also had some teams come out of nowhere and make a run like the Tennessee Titans. And I don’t think many predicted the San Francisco 49ers to capture the NFC title and give the Chiefs a run for their money either.

It’s truly anyone’s year, and I expect plenty more surprises.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

Who will be the best team in the NFL this year?

My answer: The Detroit Lions.

This year, I like the Baltimore Ravens to take another step forward and of all the top-tier teams, they might have done the most to improve this offseason.

The Chiefs are likely the favorite to repeat just based on having the best quarterback in the NFL on their side, but I think Lamar Jackson has a real chance to continue his development as a pocket passer and challenge Mahomes for the AFC title. The Ravens also have a top-five defense, and while they are certainly candidates to regress after an incredible 14-2 campaign last year, they should still win their division without trouble and likely earn a playoff bye.

Your turn.
