Which NFL team will have the first overall pick next year?
The NFL is a hard league to predict. Unlike the NBA or even the MLB, there aren’t clear championship contenders months before the season even starts. Sure, there are franchises that typically do well and teams that look good on paper. But time and time again, we’re proven that we know a lot less than we think we do about how the upcoming season will play out.
However, that is a little less true of the bad teams. For the most part, you usually have a pretty good idea of who the worst couple teams in the league will be. For example, we were all pretty sure the Dolphins, Giants and Bengals were going to be pretty bad teams in 2019, and it turns out they all were.
So with than in mind, let’s take a look ahead to the 2020 season and ask...
Who will be the team with the worst record in 2020?
My answer: The Jacksonville Jaguars. I look at the team that made the AFC Championship game two years ago, and it’s hardly even recognizable from this year’s team. Gone are the defensive studs like Calais Campbell, Jalen Ramsey, and A.J. Bouye—and don’t forget that Yannick Ngakoue had a very public spat with the team owner and wants the hell out.
Meanwhile, the offense has very little hope to succeed this year. Though they have a very underrated receiver in DJ Chark Jr., the rest of their offensive weapons include underwhelming options like Dede Westbrook, Chris Conley, and Tyler Eifert. And while Gardner Minshew II had some brights spots in his rookie season, he’s far from a proven winner right now.
I just don’t see how this team wins more than five games this year.
Your turn.
