Hopefully he’s healthy and ready to go for the start of the season!
It hasn’t been a great offseason for the San Francisco 49ers’ wide receivers. Deebo Samuel suffered a Jones fracture during offseason training with teammates in Nashville, while kick returner Richie James fractured his rest.
The good news is that slot receiver Trent Taylor looks as healthy as he has been in two years.
George Kittle & Trent Taylor looking great out there. The footwork is on point for both.

He suffered the same injury as Samuel last year. Complications during his recovery forced Taylor to have five procedures to correct the issue, which resulted in him missing all of 2019. But, if Taylor can stay healthy in 2020, it would be a huge addition to the 49ers’ receiving group. He had a good rookie campaign, and his numbers went up when San Francisco had Jimmy Garoppolo playing QB for the final five games of the 2017 season.
Garoppolo and Taylor connected on 17 catches for 181 yards and a touchdown over the quarterback’s first five starts as a Niner, and PFF gave Taylor a grade of 68.4 for the 2017 season. With Garoppolo missing all but 2.5 games of 2018, Taylor caught 26 passes for 215 yards and a TD with Nick Mullens mainly filling in at quarterback, before missing all of last season.
The shifty receiver would give Jimmy G an underneath option who can make tough catches. With Taylor and Jalen Hurd expected to be ready to go for Week 1, it gives head coach Kyle Shanahan more options on how to deploy his weapons.
What are you expectations for Taylor going into next season?
San Francisco has a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. NFL.com’s Adam Schein put together his rankings of the NFL’s most complete teams, and has the 49ers very high on his list.
The 49ers are among the Super Bowl favorites going into the 2020 season. CBS Sports broke down the gambling odds, and explains why the Niners are a good bet at 7-1.

Who knows what would have happened if Kittle wasn’t called for the BS offensive pass interference penalty in the Super Bowl. The tight end says that he sees his teammates are hungry for a return to the Big Game. (NFL.com)
It remains to be seen if GM John Lynch gives into Raheem Mostert’s trade demands. Fansided’s Robert Smith looks at three options to replace Mostert, if he is indeed moved prior to the season.
Where would you rank the pool of NFC West receivers to other divisions? 49ers team reporter Keiana Martin broke down CBS Sports’ rankings. (49ers.com)
