- Andrew Berry proving himself early with a string of impressive moves (Browns Wire) - It’s been a big week for the Cleveland Browns off the field. Just as he’s done with several other big moves and decisions this offseason, new Browns GM Andrew Berry once again proved he’s off to a very impressive start.
- The Browns better hope all their troubles were due to Freddie Kitchens (Yahoo Sports) - We know how the Freddie Kitchens experiment turned out, but in the moment, the hire made sense. The thing is, the roster is still as exciting as it was a year ago when the Browns were the popular bandwagon team of the offseason. Cleveland probably got better this offseason with some key additions. There still is plenty of reason for hope, just fewer people buying in. The hope is tied into the idea that Kitchens was the problem.
- Top landing spots for David Njoku and what his trade would mean for the Browns in 2020 (PFF) - It’s been over a week now since David Njoku requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns. His size and athleticism should intrigue plenty of teams, but for Njoku to become the player many believe him to be, consistency is key. There is still plenty of time for that to become reality, though. These are the teams that make the most sense as landing spots for Njoku to continue to develop.
- Signing Myles Garrett is a big deal for him, even bigger for Cleveland Browns (Terry Pluto) - Some critics will say the Browns overpaid for their defensive end. I say it’s about time they have a player with enough talent and the proper work ethic worth a massive contract – especially a player drafted and developed by them.
NFL:
- NFLPA preaching caution as training camps set to open (ESPN) - The NFL remains determined to start training camps on time, which in some cases means next week. NFL players, following a Thursday night conference call with several team physicians, are aware that a delay in the start of camps is unlikely. The key now, NFLPA leaders say, is to figure out the best way to practice and play football safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Cardinals sign veteran offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum (NFL.com) - The Arizona Cardinals bolstered their offensive line depth prior to training camp. The team announced Friday it signed veteran offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum.
- Molly McManimie a ‘rising star’ as an NFL agent (The Athletic) - Molly McManimie and Steve Caric, who’re both NFL agents with Caric Sports Management, were at their office in Las Vegas on the morning of April 25 when Caric received a text message from a general manager: Congrats on Joshua. One minute later, the Chargers called to let McManimie know that they were drafting former UCLA running back Joshua Kelley 112th overall. Caric jumped out of his seat in elation when McManimie relayed the news. It took him three full years after becoming an agent in the early 2000s to land his first draft pick; it only took McManimie just over two.
