Colts Injury Update: CB Kenny Moore Expected to Miss at Least a Week; DE Kemoko Turay Making Progress

According to 1070 The Fan’s Kevin Bowen (via head coach Frank Reich), Indianapolis Colts slot standout Kenny Moore (groin) is expected to miss at least a week of training camp practice, while pass rusher Kemoko Turay (knee) is ‘making progress’—as he recovers from a season-ending torn ACL he suffered last year:

Moore’s groin injury, which he suffered Monday, doesn’t appear to be overly serious, and he should be ready to go for the Colts regular season opener. It also could allow backup veteran slot cornerback T.J. Carrie to get more meaningful work with the first-team defense in the slot —which could pay off down the road—should another injury arise with the Colts top slot cornerback (and defensive back), Moore, during the 2020 campaign.

Meanwhile, Turay continues to make progress as he rehabilitates from a torn ACL he suffered in Week 5 of last year and required immediate season-ending surgery.

Turay was ranked as Pro Football Focus’ 3rd best graded pass rusher with a +91.0 pass rushing grade (albeit with limited snaps) in 2019 before his season was unfortunately cut short with the significant knee injury.

If he can stay fully healthy, Turay could be a breakout star for the Colts as a speed rusher in his third NFL season—as he’s quickly becoming a student of the game and growing as a young player.

This was posted a few weeks ago (via Turay’s personal Instagram account), but one can see that Turay’s mobility is definitely improving:

Otherwise, wideout T.Y. Hilton and tight end Trey Burton did not participate in practice on Tuesday because of planned ‘rest days’—while veteran cornerback Xavier Rhodes stayed home with an illness as a precaution:

At this point of training camp, the Colts appear to be in fairly good shape injury wise—with no significant injuries (*knock on wood*). However, just entering their first week of padded practices and team physical contact increasingly ramping up, that could certainly change.

Fingers crossed.
