It seems that everybody understands that Michael Gallup is a number one wide receiver

Don’t disrespect Cowboys receiver Michael Gallup

The Dallas Cowboys are fortunate to have the wide receivers that they do. Between Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb, it is unlikely that Dak Prescott will have difficulty finding open receivers during games. The Cowboys boast what might be the NFL’s best group at that position when operating out of 11 personnel. The case can be made that they have three bonafide number one receivers.

Mike McCarthy preached the truth on Tuesday morning when he noted that he believed Michael Gallup, often regarded as the team’s second wide receiver, is a number one. How did Gallup feel about those words, though?

Gallup just so happened to meet with the media on Tuesday and he was obviously asked about what his head coach had to say. It should come as no surprise that he kept it humble.

“You definitely want to think of yourself as a number one wide receiver, but I’m never going to tell myself or say to anybody else that yea I’m the number one or anything like that. But definitely always practice like you are and then play like you are. I appreciate it from coach, but yea, I would never say it about myself.”

There is no question that Gallup would be the top receiver on multiple NFL teams, the Cowboys are simply fortunate that they have both Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb to play alongside of him.

It will be interesting to see how the Cowboys handle these three as far as the business of football is concerned in two years when Gallup is up for a new deal. For now, we can just enjoy what they all do together.
