After losing three starters to injury over the past several weeks, the Denver Broncos’ patchwork offensive line impressed in their thrilling comeback victory against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Good morning, Broncos Country.
It’s time to give credit where credit is due. The Denver Broncos’ offensive line played a Hell of a game against the Los Angeles Chargers this past Sunday. In fact, it was good enough to merit one of the team’s two game balls dished out after notching a much needed victory.
First things first friends, the unit didn’t give up a single sack against the Chargers’ fierce pass rushing defense headlined by premier pass rushers Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa. A feat that not many other teams can relate to. Not only that, they were ferocious in propelling the team’s rushing attack and were fundamentally sound with respect to penalties. Given the fact that three players were playing entirely new positions in starting roles, fans across Broncos Country couldn’t have asked for or dreamed a better outcome.
Broncos Country should be elated. No matter how you slice it, it was a dominant effort and one of the best performances the offensive line has barked upon all season long. Moreover, the impressive nature of their outing should provide a little glimmer of hope for the franchise moving forward. Despite a 4-6 record, the Broncos are still in the running for a potential wild card playoff berth. While it will likely take them winning most if not all of their renaming games, stranger things have happened.

The next challenge for the Broncos’ patchwork offensive line is the vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers defense, currently ranked number one in the National Football League in regard to sacks with 37 on the season. Second-year outside linebacker T.J. Watt headlines the Steelers’ group of impressive pass rushers and has amassed ten sacks on the season to date, the first linebacker to do so for their team since 2010. It will likely be the Broncos’ toughest challenge to date, but the linemen are confident in their ability to do a great job in the trenches throughout the remainder of the season.
“We trust each other, we’re great. We’ve just got to continue to move forward. We’re 1-0 this week and that’s all that matters. But we have a great group dudes, our room is special,” stated offensive tackle Garett Bolles. “We’re always competing, from practice squad to starters, were always rocking it and doing the things that we need to do to come out successfully.”
With a big morale booster after Sunday’s victory, the Broncos should have a lot more confidence this week while they prepare to face off against the Steelers. From here on out, it’s all about taking things one game at a time. If the Broncos can take care of business at home on Sunday, their hardest opponents on the schedule are out of their way with a relatively easy schedule remaining.
It ain’t over until it’s over folks. Are you a believer yet? Call me naive or say that I’m wearing orange and blue colored glasses, but I am starting to become a believer myself.
