Despite win, Broncos home underdogs to Steelers in Week 12

The Denver Broncos are coming off a big road win over the Los Angeles Chargers, but will come home as underdogs again this week, this time to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Denver Broncos opened up 5.5 point home underdogs to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, but after the Broncos comeback win on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers the line moved slightly towards Denver and now stands at minus 3.

Even though the Chargers had the better record heading into last week and were at home, that wasn’t enough to turn the tide on the line. But I think the Broncos are in a great spot for another statement game after a tough first half of the season.

For the team, winning sets the tone for a great week as opposed to another week where players have to try to grind through to the next one. A fact alluded to by Head Coach Vance Joseph after the game.

“I think it changes guys’—it changes the week, obviously,” Joseph said on Monday. “When you win in this league, you have great weeks. When you lose, you have horrible weeks. I think the work that we put in and the games that we’ve played, it’s been close. It’s been field-goal games. To win one obviously assures guys that the hard work is being rewarded. It’s good for our football team to win one.”

With both Von Miller and Bradley Chubb teeing off on Ben Roethlisberger, who is more of a pocket passer than a true mobile quarterback, it would be a positive matchup for the Broncos defense if they can hold up on the back end.

I kind of like the way the Broncos matchup with the Steelers, but it will surely be another dogfight to win a game against another strong opponent coming into Denver.
