The Titans need to revamp the interior of their offensive line, but they have a $24 million problem

The Titans gave Josh Kline a 4-year $24 million contract this offseason. He wasn’t good last year, but we gave Jon Robinson the benefit of the doubt because we heard some much about how the scheme change was going to be good for Kline. He was #allegedly a zone blocking guard.

Well it certainly hasn’t played out that way. Kline currently has a 52.7 grade for the season on Pro Football Focus. I’m not sure if you know this or not, but that isn’t good. The bigger issue here is that Kline has to be here at least through 2019. It doesn’t really do them any good to cut him after this year because of the contract.

But Kline isn’t the only problem with the interior of this offensive line. Ben Jones hasn’t been good either- for the second year in a row if we are being honest. The upside with him is that they save a bunch of money ($4.5 million vs. $875,000 in dead money) if they cut him after this season. Upgrading the center position needs to be one of the biggest priorities this offseason.

Quinton Spain is the guy in the group that isn’t under contract for next year. They didn’t put a lot of value on him this offseason when they tendered him at the lowest amount possible. He’s been the best of the group. They should probably try to get a long(ish) term deal done with him.

The list of things the Titans need this offseason seems to be growing every week. Right now I have their top 3 needs as wide receiver, EDGE rusher and interior offensive lineman. Do you agree?
