This is news. Apparently Raiders rookie safety Johnathan Abram suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s season opener Monday night. And it’s serious enough that there is talk about potential injured reserve. Abram has already gotten one diagnosis on the shoulder and is seeking a second opinion in the hopes of avoiding being placed on injured reserve, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.
My understanding is that #Raiders 1st-round pick, starting safety Jonathan Abram, will seek a second opinion/examination of his shoulder area, at this time, per source. A possibility lingers that Abram could be placed on IR as a result of his injury, source adds.

Abram played 49 snaps on defense in the game (77%), so it’s hard to say exactly where he may have suffered the injury. He was replaced off and on by Curtis Lofton, but never left the game for extended periods of time and was on the field for the entirety of the final two drives. This is the first it has come up that he has an injury at all.
