Week 2 of college football only featured a few big time games, but like every week the slate of matchups brought out the best in players across the country. This past Saturday, receiver Justin Jefferson and edge defender Chase Young were the most high impact draft prospects of the weekend.
Texas and LSU faced off in the highest profile game of the weekend and it did not disappoint. The game featured a combined 83 points and 1,100 yards of offense. It was truly a blow for blow match between two great offenses. LSU’s offensive explosion can be credited to great quarterback play, but receiver Justin Jefferson definitely made the most out of every opportunity he was given. The 6’3” junior caught nine passes for over 160 yards and three touchdowns. He was dependable and explosive with the ball in his hands.

Jefferson has effortless speed at his size and that playmaking was crucial in LSU’s huge win. Jefferson put his name on the map this weekend and the nation will be watching his season closely as he grows into a dangerous duo with quarterback Joe Burrow.
A game that was anything but a contest was Ohio State’s demolition of Cincinnati. Ohio State scored 42 points without allowing a single point from the Bearcats. Ohio State’s winning was unsurprising, but the domination of a solid Cincinnati team was a testament to how good the Buckeyes are again this year. Ohio State shutting down the Bearcats offense was largely possible due to a monstrous game from Chase Young. The Buckeye pass rusher only logged 1 sack, but he was unblockable the whole game.

Young was creating pressure on what felt like every down, consistently blew up the running game and even blocked a field goal to keep the shut out alive. I have long said that Young has a higher upside than either of the Bosa brothers that came before him and his campaign to be the first player off the board this spring is off to a huge start.
