New England is dealing with some injuries at the moment.
The New England Patriots had seven players listed on their injury report heading into their Thursday night game against the New York Giants. Of those seven men, only two — wide receiver Phillip Dorsett and running back Rex Burkhead — were declared inactive prior to the contest. Among the group of questionable players, meanwhile, was safety Patrick Chung who already missed last week’s game against the Washington Redskins.
His return lasted only one quarter, as Chung left the game with a chest injury in the first period and was later announced to be questionable by the team. With him sidelined and possibly not returning, the Patriots will likely turn to veteran Duron Harmon and first-year Patriot Terrence Brooks to complement starting free safety Devin McCourty in a secondary that has looked good early in the game.
Chung is not the only player whose return to the game is uncertain: tight end Matt LaCosse, who had been dealing with an ankle injury earlier but was not listed on the injury report, left the game because of his ankle. He too is listed as questionable, which makes second-year tight end Ryan Izzo the top option at the position by virtue of being the only other available tight end.
[UPDATE] LaCosse has returned to the field in the second quarter.
