Jeannette Belichick died of natural causes in Annapolis.

The mother of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, and grandmother of assistants Steve and Brian, has passed away. Jeannette Belichick, as was confirmed by the team, died at the age of 98 in Annapolis, Maryland due to natural causes.

Jeannette Belichick, née Munn, taught Spanish and French at Hiram College where she met Steve Belichick, the program’s football and basketball head coach, in the 1940s. The couple was married in 1950 and two years later welcomed their only child, Bill, to the family. In 1956, when Steve started working at the Naval Academy, they relocated to Annapolis. The Belichicks spent the rest of their lives in the city.

Steve Belichick died in 2005 at the age of 85.

Jeannette continued to live in Annapolis for 15 more years, before passing away on late Monday night.

She is survived by her son, Bill, and three grandchildren: the aforementioned Steve and Brian, who are coaching outside linebackers and safeties in New England, as well as Amanda, who is the lacrosse head coach at Holy Cross. In 2016, her first great-granddaughter was born to Steve, followed by a second two years later born to Amanda.
