Eagles rooting guide for Week 2 games

The second Sunday of the 2020 NFL regular season is here! That means it’s time to run through a Philadelphia Eagles-focused rooting guide for all of the Week 2 games.

EAGLES GAME

LOS ANGELES RAMS at PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: Since 2007, only about 12% of teams that started 0-2 have gone on to make the playoffs. The Eagles need a win. Root for the Eagles, of course.

NFC EAST GAMES

ATLANTA FALCONS at DALLAS COWBOYS: The Cowboys starting 0-2? You’d really hate to see it. Just kidding. You’d actually love to see it. Root for the Falcons.

WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM at ARIZONA CARDINALS: The Football Team leads the NFC East after Week 1 and they have a head-to-head tiebeaker over Philly. For now, at least. Need them to lose. Root for the Cardinals.

NEW YORK GIANTS at CHICAGO BEARS: The Eagles should prefer the Giants to be merely bad instead of flat out horrible, so a New York win wouldn’t be the worst thing. But the Birds don’t want to see the Giants build any positive momentum. Root for da Bears.

NFC GAMES

CAROLINA PANTHERS at TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: In theory, at least, the Bucs are the bigger threat in the NFC. Plus it’s fun to root against Tom Brady. Root for the Panthers.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS at NEW YORK JETS: The Eagles could be competing with the Niners for a spot in the NFC playoff picture. Would be nice to Joe Douglas’s side get the win here. Root for the J-e-t-s.

MINNESOTA VIKINGS at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: Easily call to go with the AFC team over the NFC team. Not to mention Frank Reich being much more rootable than Kirk Cousins. Root for the Colts.

DETROIT LIONS at GREEN BAY PACKERS: No one should want to see that Week 1 version of Aaron Rodgers anywhere near the playoffs. Root for the Lions.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: Rooting for the Pats isn’t a fun thing to do but the Seahawks are looking like a problem in the NFC. Root for the Patriots.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS at LAS VEGAS RAIDERS: Screw the Saints. Here’s to the Raiders christening their new stadium with a win. Root for the Raiders.

WHAT’S LEFT

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS at TENNESSEE TITANS: Still think the Jags are going to end up in the mix for taking a quarterback high in the 2021 NFL Draft. Hopefully higher than Washington and NYG. Root for the Titans.

DENVER BRONCOS at PITTSBURGH STEELERS: The Eagles will play the Stillers in a few weeks. Better for Pittsburgh to be good because Philly beating them would improve their strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Steelers.

BUFFALO BILLS at MIAMI DOLPHINS: There are five former Eagles players on the Dolphins ... including two Super Bowl LII winners. Go them? Root for the Dolphins.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS at LOS ANGELES CHARGERS: It would be nice to see the Chiefs look mortal but rooting against them feels futile. The Bolts bottoming out and being in position for a top quarterback ahead of Washington and NYG would be preferable. Root for the Chiefs.

BALTIMORE RAVENS at HOUSTON TEXANS: It would be nice to see the Ravens look mortal but rooting against them feels futile. The Eagles also play Baltimore soon enough and beating them will only help to improve Philly’s strength of victory tiebreaker. Root for the Ravens.
