The New England Patriots are heading into their Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks with some notable names on their injury report. While only one players — second-round rookie linebacker Josh Uche (ankle) — has been declared out, six others are listed as questionable. Among those are the team’s top two wide receivers, Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry, who are dealing with knee and shoulder ailments, respectively.
According to a report by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, however, both players should be good to go against the Seahawks.
This is obviously good news for a Patriots offense that looked good on opening day against the Miami Dolphins but did not stress the downfield passing attack too much. With Seattle’s cornerbacks having struggled last Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, however, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could, however, decide to challenge the group. Both Edelman and Harry are projected to be an integral part of the game plan if this would indeed be the case.
The two, after all, were New England’s most active pass catchers last week. While Edelman caught five passes for 57 yards in a limited role, Harry also caught five for 39 yards. The team also used Damiere Byrd and Jakobi Meyers versus Miami, but neither was targeted even once in the passing game by quarterback Cam Newton.
The Patriots’ injury report heading into the prime time game in Seattle also lists special teams captain Matthew Slater (knee), tight end Dalton Keene (neck), defensive tackle Adam Butler (shoulder) and linebacker Brandon Copeland (knee). It remains to be seen whether or not the five men will be good to go, although Saturday’s decision to temporarily elevate Nick Thurman from the practice squad could be an indication that Butler will either be inactive or not see his usual workload.
