Looking in on the enemy: How did the remaining Cowboys opponents fare in Week 2?

How did some future foes for the Cowboys do this past weekend?

We have made it through two weeks of the 2020 season, and the Dallas Cowboys sit with a 1-1 record. Of course, we have to thank our lucky stars for that “W” as the good fortune of the watermelon crawl allowed them to steal one from the Atlanta Falcons. But hey, we’ll gladly take it.

As we put on our forward faces, let’s peruse through Week 2 and look at how some of the Cowboys future opponents did over the weekend.

Week 3: @ Seattle Seahawks

Last week: Won 35-30 against the Patriots, currently sitting at 2-0 (three-way tie for first place in the NFC West)

Key game notes:

• While Seattle has been on the winning side of two straight shootouts, their defense has given up 506 and 464 yards respectively over the last two weeks
• After throwing for four touchdowns in Week 1, Russell Wilson did one better as he had five touchdowns against the Patriots, to a different receiver each time
• Chris Carson led their rushing attack with 17 carries for 72 yards
• Jamal Adams was everywhere, totally nine tackles and the team’s only sack

Week 4: Cleveland Browns

Last week: Beat the Bengals 35-30, currently 1-1

Key game notes:

• Baker Mayfield was 16/23 for 219 yards
• Nick Chubb had 22 carries for 124 yards and two touchdowns
• Kareem Hunt added 86 yards on 10 carries, finding the end zone once
• Odell Beckham Jr. had four catches for 74 yards, including a 46-yard touchdown
• Adrian Clayborn had a sack for the second straight game

Week 5: New York Giants

Last week: Lost 17-13 to the Bears, currently 0-2 and tied for last place in the NFC East

Key game notes:

• Daniel Jones was 25/40 for 241 yards with no touchdowns and one interception
• Saquon Barkley hurt his knee and is out for the season
• Tight end Evan Engram led all pass catchers with six receptions for 65 yards
• The Giants defense combined for four sacks and two interceptions

Week 6: Arizona Cardinals

Last week: Beat up on Washington 30-15, currently 2-0 and in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC West

Key game notes:

• Kyler Murray went 26/38 for 286 yards with one touchdown, one pick, and added 67 yards on the ground
• Kenyan Drake led all running backs with 86 yards on 20 carries
• DeAndre Hopkins led all receivers with eight catches for 68 yards and a score
• Jordan Hicks and De’Vondre Campbell each had a team-high 10 tackles

Week 7: @ Washington Football Team

Last week: Lost 30-15 to the Cardinals. sitting at 1-1 and is still in first place in the NFC East (because of their divisional win against the Eagles in Week 1)

Key game notes:

• Dwayne Haskins finished 19/33 for 223 yards and one touchdown
• Antonio Gibson led all rushers with with just 55 yards on 13 carries
• Terry McLaurin had seven catches for 125 yards and one touchdown
• Linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis led all players with 16 tackles

Week 8: @ Philadelphia Eagles

Last week: Got smoked 37-19 by the Los Angeles Rams, currently last in the NFC East

Key game notes:

• Carson Wentz was 26/43 for 242 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions
• Miles Sanders made his season debut with 20 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown
• DeSean Jackson led all receivers with six catches for 64 yards
• The offensive line held up much better this week as Wentz never got sacked in this one

Week 9: Pittsburgh Steelers

Last week: Beat the Broncos 26-21, currently 2-0 and tied for first place in the AFC North

Key game notes:

• Ben Roethlisberger was 29/41 with 311 yards and two touchdowns
• James Conner ran for 106 yards on 16 carries, including a touchdown
• Diontae Johnson is slowly emerging as a favorite target of Big Ben as he had eight catches for 92 yards and a touchdown
• The Steelers defense sacked the Broncos quarterbacks a total of seven times, with 2.5 of them coming from T.J. Watt

Week 10:

Week 11: @ Minnesota Vikings

Last week: Lost 28-11 to the Indianapolis Colts, currently 0-2 and tied for last place in the NFC North

Key game notes:

• The Vikings only had 175 yards of total offense
• Kirk Cousins was 11/26 for just 113 yards
• Dalvin Cook rushed for 63 yards on 14 carries
• Rookie Justin Jefferson led all receivers with three catches for 44 yards
• Linebacker Eric Kendricks led his team with 12 tackles

Week 12: Washington Football Team

Week 13: @ Baltimore Ravens

Last week: Beat the Houston Texans 33-16, currently 2-0 and tied for first in the AFC North

Key game notes:

• Lamar Jackson was 18/24 for 204 yards, one touchdown, and rushed for 54 yards
• Gus Edwards lead all running backs with 10 carries for 73 yards
• No receiver had over five catches or reached 50 yards
• The Ravens defense held the Texans to just 51 yards rushing

Week 14: @ Cincinnati Bengals

Last week: Lost 35-30 to the Browns, currently 0-2 and last place in the AFC North

Key game notes:

• No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow threw the ball 61 times! He finished with 316 yards, three touchdowns, and no picks
• Joe Mixon had 46 yards on 16 carries
• Burrow loves his tight ends as C.J. Uzomah (injured) and Drew Sample combined for 15 targets
• Tyler Boyd led all Bengal receivers with seven catches for 72 yards

Week 15: San Francisco 49ers

Last week: Beat the Jets 31-13. currently 1-1 and last place in the NFC West

Key game notes:

• Jimmy Garoppolo was 14/16 for 131 before exiting with a high ankle sprain (week-to-week)
• Raheem Mostert took the first play from scrimmage 80 yards for a touchdown and finished the game with eight carries for 92 yards before leaving with an MCL sprain (week-to-week)
• Jordan Reed, who was filling in for the injured George Kittle, caught seven passes for 70 yards, including two touchdowns
• Defensive linemen Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas both tore their ACL and are out of the season

Here are the NFL power rankings according to ESPN for all the Cowboys 2020 opponents. If Dallas only beats the teams behind them, they’d finish the season with a 10-6 record.
