Who needs a third wide receiver anyway?
It wasn’t enough for Sunday’s embarrassing loss to the Giants to include the loss of rising inside linebacker Dylan Cole for the season. No, the Texans also had to lose their starting slot receiver as well.
Bruce Ellington to injured reserve

The Texans have placed WR Bruce Ellington and ILB Dylan Cole on injured reserve. WRs Keke Coutee and Sammie Coates were inactive against the Giants and the Texans don’t have a lot of depth at the position.

Texans fans will recall that Bruce Ellington exited the game after just three snaps two days ago with a hamstring injury. Ellington has had a hard time staying on the field throughout his NFL career, so while yet another injury hardly comes as a shock, it still stings, especially with Texans fans still waiting for the first glimpse of Keke Coutee in live game action.
As fantastic as DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller V have been, having no WR3 would seem to be a glaring issue. Coutee’s hamstring better recover with a quickness (though I suppose Bill O’Brien could incorporate some more two tight end sets to cover up for the lack of a slot receiver; it’s not like Ellington was setting the world on fire through the first three weeks of the season).
Daeshon Hall will take Ellington’s spot on the 53-man roster.
#Texans announce that they have placed LB Dylan Cole and WR Bruce Ellington on IR. Houston was already lacking depth at WR.

Team also confirmed it has brought OT David Sharpe up from the practice squad to the active roster. OLB Daeshon Hall also added to active roster.
If you’re keeping track at home, before the calendar has flipped to October, the Texans are now without the services of their starting right tackle (Seantrel Henderson), a promising rotational linebacker who was a very good special teamer (Cole), a starting—albeit struggling to the point of being a hindrance—cornerback (Kevin Johnson), and their starting slot receiver (Ellington).
