The Denver Broncos will travel to the east coast to play road games on Saturday now, instead of Friday.
After losing by two scores in four of their five road games on the east coast in 2017, Denver Broncos Head Coach Vance Joseph is changing things up this year by leaving on Saturday’s instead of Friday’s.
“Obviously, traveling east, it’s the different times and time zones,” Joseph said on Wednesday. “That’s always a hard thing to overcome on the road ... It’s going to be a tough out for our guys as far as traveling and playing our best game we can.”
The idea for Joseph was to keep players focused on the game at hand. It would seem that there were some distractions going on behind-the-scenes last year during the Broncos long losing streak during the middle of the season.
“We just want to go out and play the game,” Joseph said. “Again, it’s all about mindset. We’re not going to worry about how far we’re traveling, what time the game starts—we don’t care. It’s going to probably rain on Sunday. We don’t care. I think pushing it back and just going on Saturday is all about our mindset and not worrying about going east, who we’re playing or where we’re playing. It’s worrying about the Broncos playing the best we can play. Our attitude this year is, ‘We don’t care about where we go or who we play or when we travel or where we travel.’ We’re just going to go play.”
Fortunately for Joseph and the Broncos as a whole, they only have to worry about a few east coast games this year as opposed to last year. They play this next one against the Baltimore Ravens and then travel to face the New York Jets in Week 5 and the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13.
