APC NFL Picks, Week 8: Writers take Rams straight up, fans think Packers cover the spread

We can’t quite bring ourselves to pick the Packers this week — at least not most of us.

As the Green Bay Packers prepare for arguably the toughest game on their 2018 schedule this weekend, the writing staff here at Acme Packing Company is showing little faith in their ability to pull out a victory over the unbeaten Los Angeles Rams. Sure, the Packers have showed up in games like this before — think back to their drubbing of the 5-0 Houston Texans in 2012 — but LA feels like a team that’s unstoppable on offense right now.

Thus, APC’s writers are nearly unanimous in our picks for this week’s game, taking the Rams straight up with only two exceptions. Let’s all give credit to our Jordan Smith and Kris Burke for keeping the faith in the Green and Gold, and here’s hoping their pick ends up being the right one.

Meanwhile, Sunday night’s game between the Saints and Vikings will have major implications, both within the two teams’ divisions and across the NFC as a whole. By a narrow 7-6 margin, APC is going with

APC’s writers don’t like the Packers to win the game this week, and neither did our readers in our FanPulse survey. However, with the point spread sitting at nine points currently (after opening at Rams -8.5), they do think the Packers will cover, expecting an average margin of victory for Los Angeles at seven points. Turf Show Times readers are right in step with that as well, expecting an eight-point victory for their team.
