Week 7 of the 2018 NFL season was supposed to feature a Sunday Night Football game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers. Networks really were sold on the 49ers being playoff contenders, hence they got five scheduled primetime appearances, but with Jimmy Garoppolo done for the season and the 49ers sitting at 1-4, they’ve been kicked out of that timeslot.
The NFL announced earlier this week that Rams vs. 49ers will be booted to the CBS 1:25 PM PT kickoff slot — Dallas vs. Washington will be the featured game in that window — while the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs and 4-1 Cincinnati Bengals get moved to the night-capper. The Chiefs are already on SNF this week at the New England Patriots.
Now it has to be noted that the Seattle Seahawks have a Week 13 home date with the 49ers on Sunday Night Football. Obviously this was supposed to be “Richard Sherman returns to Seattle” as the main storyline. Assuming the 49ers stay bad, then regardless of how the Seahawks perform over the next several weeks, you can expect this matchup to be moved to the 1 PM slate.
Seattle also has an SNF game with the aforementioned Chiefs in Week 16, although the fate of that one more or less depends on whether the Seahawks are still in the playoff hunt by then.
