Your first half open thread
After what seems like an eternity of playing off-schedule, the New York Giants will finally play a football game at 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon.
That is when the Giants will meet the NFC East leading Washington Redskins.
The Giants enter the game as one point underdogs at home against Washington, and the Big Blue View staff agrees with Vegas on this one. Every one of our contributors is picking Washington to win, with most anticipating a double-digit loss.
This will be the Giants’ first game in the fire-sale era, having traded defensive tackle Damon Harrison and cornerback Eli Apple. In their place, the Giants have signed wide receiver Corey Coleman and cornerback Tony Lippett to their 53-man roster.
The Giants’ inactives will be:
WR Jawill Davis
DB Tony Lippett
CB Mike Jordan
There was speculation that the Giants could deactivate CB Janoris Jenkins in advance of a trade before Tuesday’s trade deadline, but he will be active. Likewise, many were speculating that rookie QB Kyle Lauletta could be activated as the Giants begin to look past the Eli Manning era, but he won’t get his look until after the bye week at the earliest.
Use this as your open thread for the first half. I’ll be back at halftime with the open thread for the second half.
