The linebacker didn’t practice at all this week, appearing on the injury report with a hamstring injury for Wednesday’s practice. Davis, meanwhile, will miss his second consecutive game as he recovers from a concussion.
With Ogletree sidelined, 2016 fourth rounder, and 2017 starting MLB, B.J. Goodson will likely be the Giants’ starting middle linebacker, with a combination of Nate Stupar and Tae Davis playing next to him in base packages. How the Giants handle the linebacker position will be something to watch, as Goodson was the player most often taken off the field in sub-packages. Will the Giants take him off the field in favor of a nickel back (likely Grant Haley or Sean Chandler), or will he play the majority of snaps as Ogletree did?
The Giants will also be without wide receiver Jawill Davis. The Giants finally found a reliable kick return option in the UDFA rookie. However, Quadree Henderson showed upside on punt returns and had success returning kicks in college. Davis’ snaps on offense could go to Core Coleman, who was recently promoted from the practice squad.
