Taylor Decker dealing with an undisclosed injury

Matt Patricia confirmed the Lions former first-round pick couldn’t finish Sunday’s game due to an injury.

If you had the stomach to watch the last few minutes of the Detroit Lions’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks, you may have noticed that rookie offensive lineman Tyrell Crosby got some playing time in the Lions’ final full possession of the game. In total, the fifth-round pick played eight total snaps at left tackle.

Taylor Decker, the Lions 2016 first-round pick, was not on the field for those final snaps of the game, and it wasn’t apparent why. However, on Monday morning, Lions head coach Matt Patricia confirmed Decker was dealing with an injury at the time.

“A little bit of an injury situation there came up there at the end of the game,” Patricia said. “We’re kind of evaluating that here today, so we’ll see where that’s at.”

Decker wasn’t the only starting offensive lineman to miss time on Sunday. For the second straight week, right guard T.J. Lang sat out a series in the second half and Kenny Wiggins logged eight snaps. At the time, Lang was not with trainers and the team didn’t announce an injury for Lang, so it appears this was a planned rest.

We won’t know the extent of Decker’s injury until the Lions release their initial injury report on Wednesday, and the film doesn’t show any obvious ailment. Let’s just hope for the best, as the Lions prepare for a good Vikings defense this week.
