Titans Fan Guide: Friday Night Lightning Edition

Gerald Willis with the new and revamped Turnover Chain

Some quality matchups across the land on a Friday night. Which prospects will stand out?

Louisiana Tech at Florida Atlantic 6:30 PM CBS Sports Network

- The Bulldogs travel to Boca Raton to take on FAU in a key C-USA battle. La Tech is coming off a close victory over UTEP while FAU struggled in a loss to Marshall. Lane Kiffin recently made news for offering a scholarship to former USC QB Matt Leinart’s 11 year old son. It’s been a tough year for the Owls as they have gone 3-4 and currently reside in fifth place of the East division.

Louisiana Tech prospect to watch

1. Jaylon Ferguson 6’5 269 EDGE RS Senior

- Ferguson has been a monster thus far into his career. If you look up the word production, his picture is next to the word. Has posted a career line of 154 tackles, 53 tackles for loss, 37 sacks as of press time. One of the more underrated edge rushers in a loaded class. Motor is a plus. He would fit what the Titans are looking for in an edge.

Florida Atlantic prospect to watch

1. Devin Singletary 5’9 200 RB Junior

- The best running back that no one is talking about. He had a monstrous 2017 with 1,918 yards and 32 touchdowns. Really blew up as a sophomore under Lane Kiffin’s guidance. The 2018 season hasn’t been as productive but he’s still a solid back. He’s the all time leader in rushing touchdowns by a player who attended a FBS school in the state of Florida. That’s an impressive accomplishment given the talent that has come out of the state.

Miami at Boston College 7 PM ESPN

- The Hurricanes renew acquaintances with long time foe Boston College. Miami is coming off a loss to Virginia while BC is coming off a win over Louisville. Both teams need a win in order to stay alive in their division. Miami is going back to much maligned QB Malik Rosier after N’Kosi Perry struggled last week. Can the Canes find an answer and beat the Golden Eagles to right the ship?

Miami prospects to watch

1. Jaquan Johnson 5’11 190 S Senior

- Johnson is one of the best safeties in the class that hardly anyone talks about. He’s been at Miami for a long time now. Was one of the best safeties last year in the entire ACC and three of them got drafted within the first two rounds in 2018. A guy who’s seemingly always around the ball. Tackling fundamentals are on point. Football IQ is a plus.

2. Tyree St. Louis 6’5 305 OT Senior

- Underrated tackle prospect that has been on the radar for a couple of years now. Versatile enough to play both tackle positions. Has played left tackle as senior.

3. Michael Pinckney 6’1 220 LB Junior

- One of the best linebackers in the ACC. Undersized, yes but so are the times of the NFL in regards to the position. Can cover sideline to sideline with the best. Football IQ is a plus. The frame questions will cause some pause for teams as he gets lost in the wash quite frequently.

4. Gerald Willis III 6’2 280 DT RS Senior

- Willis has been a monster in the middle for the Canes this season. Athleticism is on point. Still refining the little things in terms of fundamentals. He’s vaulted himself into first round conversations with his play. Been unstoppable at times. He’s really good. There were some off field issues early on but he has matured a ton. He missed all of last season dealing with personal issues. I commend him for recognizing his issues and working to solve them. Current Giants standout safety Landon Collins is his older half-brother.

Boston College prospects to watch

1. Zach Allen 6’5 285 EDGE Senior

- The focal point of the Golden Eagles pass rush after a very good junior season being Honor Landry’s running mate. Had a monstrous junior season with 100 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks. Production has dropped off a bit in 2018 but still a talented prospect nonetheless. Football IQ and work ethic are major pluses. Run defense is a plus as well.

2. A.J. Dillon 6’0 245 RB Sophomore

- Dillon is one of the more intriguing running backs in a loaded 2020/21 class. He had a monster freshman season last year rushing for 1,589 yards on 300 carries and 14 touchdowns. He’s coming off an ankle injury that made him miss the last two games so we shall see how effective he is.
