The Bills replaced Terrelle Pryor.
Just over a year ago, the Buffalo Bills signed wide receiver Deonte Thompson on October 17th, and he exploded onto the scene with big catches. After the season, he signed a big deal with the Dallas Cowboys but was released. Now a free agent, he has chosen to re-sign with the Bills on Wednesday.
The Bills reportedly met with Thompson during the offseason in hopes of re-signing him then, but were unable. They most likely offered less than the one-year, $2.5 million deal the Cowboys gave him with a $1 million signing bonus.
Thompson was released at final cutdown time but was quickly re-signed after the Cowboys placed Noah Brown on injured reserve. Now that Brown is healthy, he’s been added to the roster and Thompson was cut again.
The seven-year vet played in 11 games for the Bills a year ago, leading the team in receiving yards and making clutch plays during the Snowvertime game and elsewhere. He adds a veteran presence to the locker room.
Buffalo released wide receiver Terrelle Pryor earlier this week, paving the way for the open spot on the roster. The Bills still have an empty spot from the release of Nathan Peterman, as well.
