It’s game day, ladies and gentlemen!
We are now less than an hour away from kickoff of Week 9 in the National Football League, and that includes the big NFC North divisional tussle between the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions at U.S. Bank Stadium. Let’s give you everything you need leading up to today’s game.
Time: Sunday, 4 November, noon Central time (unless you forgot to set your clock back, then it’s 1:00 PM and you’ve probably missed the first quarter already)
Location: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota
Television coverage: KSTP-9 in the Twin Cities, FOX affiliates across the nation, DirecTV Ch 710
Radio coverage: Vikings Radio Network, Sirius Channel 83, XM Channel 225
Line: Minnesota -5, Over/under 48
Prediction: Vikings 27, Lions 23
Three keys
1) Spread the wealth on offense - It doesn’t look like receiver Stefon Diggs is going to go today, so the pressure is going to be on everyone that’s lined up opposite of Adam Thielen. Whether it’s Laquon Treadwell, Aldrick Robinson, or even Chad Beebe, the rest of the Vikings’ wide receiver corps is going to have to do what they can to take heat off of the NFL’s best receiver and keep the Vikings’ offense moving.
2) Get pressure on Matthew Stafford - While the Lions have actually developed a bit of a running game this season, Stafford is still the key to their offense. The Lions’ offensive line has been among the best in the league in terms of not allowing pressure on the quarterback, but the Vikings are starting to get healthy again up front, and Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter should be able to get to Stafford in this one.
3) Win on special teams - This one goes without saying. If this one comes down to a Detroit field goal, you know that Matt Prater is going to make it, because that’s just what he does to the Vikings. Minnesota is the more talented team on paper in this one, and they don’t need to give their opponents extra chances and short fields.

We will keep rolling out the new Open Threads at the start of every quarter, ladies and gentlemen, so keep an eye out for those. Other than that, let’s enjoy today’s game and hopefully we can all meet back here just after 3:00 PM Central to celebrate a Minnesota Vikings victory.
SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
