Week 11 power rankings: Bills inching up, passing Jets

The Bills move up and leapfrog the Jets in all five rankings this week

After a blowout win for any team you expect that team to move up a few spots in any power ranking and the Buffalo Bills did just that. A 41-10 victory over the New York Jets at their place is a big win for the Bills headed into their bye week. In all five rankings this week, the Bills move up in the rankings and surpass the Jets.

ESPN moved the Bills up four spots from last week and they now sit at 27th. The defense gets the credit it deserves for the time being but is then ripped for the circumstances of their number one rank in yards allowed:

“302.2. The Bills are allowing only 302.2 yards per game, the best mark of any team in the NFL and Buffalo’s best through 10 games since 2004. However, calling the Bills the league’s best defense this season might be ignoring how they rank 19th in points allowed per game. Buffalo ranks 23rd in red zone defense, and opponents are starting with the best average field position seen in the NFL since 2010, which limits how many yards Buffalo’s defense can give up.”

The Jets moved back one spot and are just behind the Bills at 28th.

For NFL.com, the Bills moved up three spots to 28th from their 31st overall ranking last week. They credit the defense for their stellar performance and the impressive start of Barkley who was thrown into a fire. The Jets move down four spots to 31st, staying just one spot in front of the Gruden-led Oakland Raiders.

This week eight writers for Sports Illustrated voted on their NFL power rankings. The Bills move up just one spot into 30th overall but did receive two votes for them to move up to 28th. The Jets moved back five spots into 31st.

CBS Sports give the Bills the biggest jump they had this week. They moved the Bills up six spots into 24th:

“Sean McDermott has done an amazing job with this team. They are winning a few games despite a lack of talent.”

The Jets move back five spots into 31st overall for the third and final time this week.

SB Nation moves the Bills up four spots into 27th and the Jets get knocked down three spots into 28th overall.
