After another loss, Chiefs only get one more shot to clinch AFC West | ESPN
Kansas City could also win the division with a loss to the Raiders if the Los Angeles Chargers also lose their game on Sunday against the Denver Broncos. But winning the AFC West at 11-5, the Chiefs wouldn’t necessarily get a first-round bye or home-field advantage.
Watch: Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes Makes a Ridiculous Touchdown Throw | Sports Illustrated
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes tied the game at 17–17 against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in the third quarter with a touchdown that would’ve made you think that he was once a contortionist.
It’s up to the Mahomes and Chiefs to prove otherwise, of course. But the fact remains that anything is possible with Mahomes, who on Sunday threw three touchdown passes to give him 48 for the season. That ties him with Dan Marino for the fourth-most in a single-season in NFL history. The three ahead are Peyton Manning with 55, Tom Brady with 50 and Manning again with 49.
Red-Hot Russell Wilson Outduels Patrick Mahomes as Seahawks Beat Chiefs on SNF | Bleacher Report
A year ago, not a single Seattle running back rushed for more than 300 yards, and the team ranked just 23rd in the NFL in rushing. Unsurprisingly, the squad also missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

3. The MVP race is *probably* still a two-horse race between New Orleans’ Drew Brees and Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes. But with neither closing with a flourish, a dark horse like Donald could still emerge.

Richard Sherman, two Bears WRs ejected after fight | NFL
After the dust settled -- which included a lengthy delay, officials meeting and television timeout -- Harris was called for the late hit and the refs signaled a trio of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties which resulted in the ejections of Sherman, Miller and Bellamy.
Philadelphia Eagles keep playoff hopes alive with last-second win over Houston Texans | USA Today
The Philadelphia Eagles rolled with a franchise-record 471 passing yards from Foles and claimed a 32-30 victory against the Houston Texans with a 35-yard field goal from Jake Elliott as time expired at Lincoln Financial Field.
The result keeps the Eagles (8-7) in contention for the playoffs (barely), while Houston (10-5) not only was unable to claim the AFC South crown it hoped to clinch but also lost its grip on a No. 2 playoff seed and first-round bye.
Seahawks back in playoffs after one-year absence | NFL
After missing out on the postseason last year, Pete Carroll has now led the Seahawks to the playoffs in six out of the past seven seasons and seven out of nine overall in his tenure as head coach.
“If we do, then we do,” running back Melvin Gordon said. “We’ll [maybe] see them in a couple of weeks. Can’t run from it. We made our road. It’s going to be a little bit tougher now. … We just have to come out and play.”

Steelers’ playoff hopes grim after latest missed opportunity | NFL
They surrendered two fourth-quarter fumbles in field-goal range, the last by JuJu Smith-Schuster at the New Orleans 34-yard line in the final minute. Smith-Schuster finished with 11 catches for 115 yards despite playing with a groin injury, deserved better than to lose a fumble.
”This feeling sucks,” he said. “I’ve never felt this feeling before, and it’s tough to go out like that. I was just trying to get down and couldn’t get down. They made a good play.”

Seahawks and Chiefs go blow for blow, but Chiefs lose 38-31
With big playoff implications for both teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawkswent blow-for-blow for four quarters. The Chiefs had no answer for Seattle’s rushing attack, but Seattle had no answer for Patrick Mahomes magic. Turnovers ended up making the difference as the Chiefs lost 38-31, deferring their hopes for a one seed in the postseason for one more week.
Mahomes, who is currently the favorite to win league MVP, was named the Associated Press’ quarterback of the year for 2018 earlier this week. He had 4,543 yards, 45 touchdowns and 11 interceptions entering the game.
